CITY CENTER HOTELS:
Manchester has a lot going on at all times, so it’s understandable if you’re wanting to be at the centre of it all. I’ve picked a few our most popular city centre hotels, let’s check them out.
HOTEL GOTHAM (Average last-minute price: £115)
The hotel Gotham is a very stylish chic boutique hotel situated in the most prime location of all. Situated on Kings Street with an M2 postcode, the hotel is based very centrally indeed, however upon arrival you’ll notice that the location is in fact quite peaceful and quaint. Ideal for those who want to be in the middle of it all, but still need a good night sleep. Rated as excellent on trip advisor. Guests gave fantastic feedback, saying things like ‘nothing was too much’ they described their break away as ‘a real treat’ and regarding location ‘close to the train station – quite yet central – friendly staff’. Having stayed at the Gotham myself I can confirm it certainly has a very high end feel. I wouldn’t describe the rooms as super spacious, but its charm and sophistication make up for this.
PREMIER INN PORTLAND STREET (Average last-minute price: £45)
The Premier Inn on Portland Street really is a key location, and a fantastic option if you do not want to compromise on surrounding areas, but you’re on the look out for a budget-friendly option. Very close by to the likes of the Palace Theater, the Manchester Art Gallery, and perhaps most exciting at all, Chinatown! Guests have raved for years about the staff employed to keep you happy by Premier inn, they always receive great feedback from all. The hotel itself from the outside is a little dated, however inside the hotel has been modernized along with the rest of the Premier Inn chain.
GREAT JOHN STREET (Average last-minute price: £113)
Intimate, Stylish, Eclectic and done in great taste are just a few ways I would describe the Great John Street hotel. The interior design is quirky and works fabulously with the historical building in which it is situated. The parking on the road right outside is very accessible and easy to use, and guests on trip advisor positively raved about the roof terrace. With it’s very own hot tub and luxury seating area. The bar offers high end cocktails and a real ambient atmosphere. each of the rooms are all very different from the last and too the next, with a very sexy selection of suites to choose from. A small and unassuming building on the outside is surprisingly spacious and decadent inside, with a certain luxurious interior.
THE IBIS BUDGET HOTEL IN SALFORD (Average last-minute price: £29)
Coming in at less than a mile from the Lowry hotel, this little budget gem is in the best location you’ll be able to source for a meagre £29. A very clean cut and modernized interior, this hotel is known for being very clean and perfectly practical. Guests were very excited about the central location, and easy metro access. Being the cheapest hotel on the list, it has been said that this is definitely a no-frills option, but the pennies you save upon booking could be spent on more time with you’re chosen Cheshire Companion. Who cares about the surroundings when you can do other things to have fun!
RADISSON EDWARDIAN (Average last minute price: £91)
The Raddison has lovingly become known as one of the city’s original cultural gems. Architecturally, possibly one of the most luxurious and elaborate buildings in the list. Constructed in 1853 it took 3 years to build, interestingly it was built on the site where the Peterloo Massacre had taken place just 34 years before. A very grand and large building, generally known for being a very spacious and welcoming hotel with modern interior design. The staff are always described as being friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is known for being spotlessly clean, and overall it’s a fantastic hotel in which to seek shelter if you find yourself in central Manchester
TRAVEL LODGE MANCHESTER CENTRAL ARENA
At a four minute walk away from the Manchester Arena, this cheeky residence is a real front runner when it comes to location. Free complimentary Wifi for half an hour and an all you can eat breakfast will certainly set you off in good stead. The restaurant manager has a fantastic reputation for his customer service, making sure to leave everybody satisfied at breakfast. The staff, in general, are spoken very highly of, people enjoy how they help out with suggestions on places to eat and/ or drink.
